RomCom 4 Stars
Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin and John Krasinski.
Story about a couple that has been divorced for 10 years and has an affair.
This movie was very funny. Everyone played their parts so well. John Krasinksi (from the office) really made some of the scenes perfect.
The audience was filled mostly with middle aged women with a female friend or daughter. There were a few other couples besides us, but not many.
If you don’t normally like Romantic Comedies, but want to make some points with your wife I highly recommend this one. It more comedy than Rom Com.
I enjoyed it, and recommend it.
Cheers

Comedy 2 stars
Adam Sandler as an Israeli anti terrorist that leaves for America to pursue his dream to be a hair stylist.
Offensive, childish humor, pretty much par for the course for an Adam Sandler flick. It had its funny moments, and helped pass the time until the IIHF Canada vs Switzerland game.
If you like Adam Sandler, then you will probably enjoy this movie at least a little bit. Just don’t expect “Wedding Singer” or “50 First Dates” calibre.
Recommend if you’ve got nothing else to do and are passing time.
Cheers

RomCom 3 stars
Woke up early and was flipping through the channels, there wasn’t much on, and for some reason I stopped on Movie Central just as this movie was starting. It didn’t sound interesting from the brief summary, but it was interesting enough in the first few minutes to keep me watching.
Not your typical boy meets girl, but still keeping with the formula.
Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow from the Dark Knight movies) plays an independant video store owner. Lucy Liu plays an eccentric girl that just drops into his life out of the blue. She messes with his head throughout the whole film. There are a few good laughs, the story is interesting and funny.
Fairly low budget, but worth seeing.
I’d recommend it.
Cheers

I’m not really sure what category this fits under. It had some funny parts, but mostly it was just a charming story about how Julia Childs began her career in cooking and how a writer named Julie Powell became published by blogging about her effort to go through and cook every recipe from Julia’s book “How to Master French Cooking” in 365 days. (over 500 recipes).
The movie switched back and forth between their two lives. Winnie and I both enjoyed it. I’d recommend it.
Cheers

Well, 2009 pretty much sucked, so I’m quite happy to see it dead and gone.
I’m hoping that the start of a new year and decade will be a lot better.
I’ve been trying to think up a suitably worthwhile New Year’s Resolution that is also acheivable.
So far I’ve come up with the usual “Get in better shape”,which I still need to formulate a plan for so that it can be measured.
I’ve also added something new.
When I see how we treat the animals that eventually become my food I’m always disgusted at how horrible we humans are to the rest of the creatures that share the planet with us. I think about becoming a vegetarian but then realize that I just like the foods that are made with meat too much to give it up, and so I just let it go.
This year I’m going to try something different though. I’m going to give up Beef. Maybe if I give up one animal type of meat per year or attempt then I can get there eventually. It was between Beef or Pork since either of those would have a sizeable impact on my diet, (someone suggested I give up lamb, but I eat that maybe once a year, it would be a hollow gesture). This one is effective immediately.
I’m also bound and determined to leave my current job and work elsewhere! I intend on completing this goal before March 2010.
3 solid points is enough I think.
Add to that the typical play more hockey, spend more time with friends and family, etc etc.
Cheers!

Action – 2 Stars
James Bond at his revengiest! Meh.
Well, we watched this on New Year’s Eve right after He’s Just Not That Into You.
I fell asleep a couple of times. We have a good sound system and found it difficult to hear/understand some things that were being said. I liked the last Daniel Craig Bond film, this one was just not that great in my opinion.
Some good action fight scenes, but otherwise nothing great to see here.

RomCom – 2.5 Stars
This wasn’t too bad. Cute story, some good actors and a fair amount of laughs. It wasn’t as funny as I expected when I saw the previews, but it was a nice movie for Winnie and I to watch New Year’s Eve.
I’d recommend it if you’ve got some spare time.

Comedy – 4 Stars
Winnie and I watched the unrated version of this movie last night and we both laughed throughout the whole thing.
Lots of off the wall humor. Many times during the movie we were going “what the hell?”, but in a good way.
Don’t expect a world view altering story or anything, just a lot of good laughs.
Highly recommend it.

December 30th, 2009
I was doing some maintenance on my web account and I noticed that it has been over 1 year since the last time I posted on the blog. It seems like only yesterday.
Every year goes by twice as fast as the one previous. Kind of depressing.
Xmas has come and gone again, we had a great time with the family. We spent Xmas eve, day and boxing day in Chilliwack and it was a lot of fun. But no snow this year which kind of took away from the feeling of Xmas.
Now I’m trying to work out a worthwhile, and acheivable New Year’s Resolution for 2010. Only one more day to come up with something good.
Maybe one of the points should be to attempt to add to this blog more than once per year…

December 3rd, 2008
I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 months since I last posted here. (Not that I have a habit of keeping this up to date, because frankly, who’s reading it anyway?)
December 2008 is here, time has gone by too quickly. It feels like I was just taking the decorations in our home and my office down, and today marks the completion of the putting up of this year’s office xmas decorations. (home was completed on Nov 30!)
The world is in a sad state, same for the economy, people in general seem to be out for number one, it’s not a really good time for society now.
But despite all the bad, life is still good. Still have my wonderful wife and our great families, our crazy dogs, still playing hockey, still working, and still more happiness than sadness.
I hope everyone will have a good holiday season and try their best to make their little part of the world a bit happier, maybe it’ll catch on.
Cheers
